Rehabilitation in Rennes historical centre with new materials

The rehabilitation of the Norac group headquarters in Rennes, made by Maurer & Gilbert Architects, has led to an elevation of a historic building with the creation of two new levels. To do this, an immense bioclimatic glass window in the form of a vault has been built, which has required the use of 3D computer programs and circumvents numerous regulatory limitations.

Winner of the 2020 Construction Trophies for the rehabilitation of tertiary buildings, it is an innovative intervention in its approach and controversial in its image, which has sought to equalize the heights between the traditional buildings in the central Hoche square of Rennes, with modern materials.
